Thank you for visiting my website, and for your
interest in my ukuleles.
I have always
been passionate about working with wood, and
have been a professional woodworker for over 25
years. My woodworking skills have progressed
from finish work, doors and cabinetry, furniture
building, complex joinery, jewelry making,
marquetry and inlay, and have come full circle
to lutherie. Making finely crafted ukuleles is
the culmination of my art and craft.
An interest in music
has been with me all my life, both listening to
it, and playing it myself. Having been to Hawaii
many times since I was a child, my love for the
Islands, and Hawaiian music, is tremendous.
I feel very fortunate
to have studied guitar building with Charles
Fox, founder of The American School of Lutherie.
Charles has been a huge influence in my
instrument making, and the knowledge and
inspiration I've gained from his classes have
set a very high standard for me. I usually
feature inlay work on my instruments. I have had
the honor of studying shell inlay with Larry
Robinson, renowned artist, teacher and author on
the subject of custom inlay techniques. Larry's
influence on me has been profound.
Every piece of wood for
my ukuleles is carefully selected, and each
instrument is constructed with an unwavering
approach to the highest quality, and with a deep
spirit of Aloha. I personally build each
ukulele, one at a time, in my workshop located
in Little River, on the beautiful Mendocino
Coast of Northern California.
As my work continues to
evolve, I welcome ideas, suggestions, and any
questions you may have. Please feel free to call
me directly.
