For the past 50 years local cabinet and furniture makers have gained a knowledge and respect for many of our fine Western Hardwoods. It has been used for fine flooring (with Maple, Tanoak, and Madrone), it was made into "box car" flooring, and there was even an attempt at mass producing baseball bats. Western Hardwoods, used in a responsible and sustainable manor, can provide an alternative, and indeed a replacement, to the conventional Eastern Hardwoods that are being "over forested."
